The Latin American Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Data Protection is a CPDP LatAm satellite event. The 2021 Conference was the first edition of the event, with two sessions focused on the main challenges and opportunities for AI implementation in Latin America with regard to data protection. The event has a multi-stakeholder format, bringing together some of the region’s leading AI experts, regulators, business leaders, start-up innovators and civil society representatives.
Panelists present different perspectives on key issues within the theme, such as: algorithmic transparency and accountability, ethics in AI and the potential for discrimination by AI, human rights and social impact assessment of automated systems, barriers that can hinder the flow of international data and thier impact on AI, data portability and interoperability standards, sandboxes, and the special needs of start-ups and small and medium businesses.
